Miller signs minor league deal with Pittsburgh Pirates organization

Brownwood High School graduate Shelby Miller on Saturday signed a minor league contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, according to multiple media outlets. Miller, 30, began the season with the Chicago Cubs organization and appeared in two games, allowing seven earned runs in two innings with five walks and two strikeouts before being placed on the injured list. He was released by the Cubs in late May.
